A former professor, vocalist, and beauty consultant, she is now known for helping women and girls reconnect with their purpose, voice, and power. Through storytelling, image, spoken word, and song, she elevates conversations around personal transformation, legacy, and intentional living.
As the founder of Powerful Elegance and visionary behind She Remembers Circle, Quen Yolanda blends spiritual insight, cultural celebration, and lifelong learning to offer workshops, retreats, and resources that inspire self-healing and generational empowerment. Her two books, growing calendar series, and forthcoming signature oracle cards reflect her passion for creating tools that guide others on their journey home to themselves.

As an Adjunct Professor, I taught various Communication courses at higher education institutions. At Paterson Public Schools, I conducted advocacy and informational workshops for parents. In addition, I was Lead Teacher and instructed personal-development and modeling sessions to children and adults. One of the best aspects of my work was collaborating with others to create memorable presentations.
From training teens on abstinence and leadership, to coaching clients towards smart goals, to providing co-workers with favorable strategies on confronting challenges, I've untaken the calling and excel.
Here, I had the opportuntity to plan and implement programming for small groups of 6 to audiences of over 3,000 persons. One of my responsibilities was to make sure projects stayed within budget.

Enjoyed the Presentation...
I was moved by Ms. Yolanda Simmons' speech about speaking up for yourself. Ms. Simmons pointed out some really important tips on effective advocating. She spoke about the proper way to approach a situation and how to resolve problems without any conflict or controversy. Also, she spoke about not making excuses, be assertive, stand tall and speak up for yourself. This motivational speaker made me feel like I could move mountains. She made me want to stand tall and hold my head up high.She boosted my confidence level to the point that I feel like I can achieve my goals.
I was drawn away from my stand hearing Yolanda introducing herself..talking about the confident black woman. The set by Yolanda was outstanding in many ways. Her singing with the great backup music and drums, the poems were beautifully expressively presented and blended into a set I could not leave until the end.
